Hotel and conference centre in Turkmenistan, in the city of Ashgabat

Status

AREA

80,000 sqm on a 16 ha site

Keys

Located on the heights of Ashgabat, between the archaeological site of Nisa, founded in the 3rd century BC, and several major city landmarks such as the Yyldyz Hotel, the Kipchak Mosque and the TV Tower, this project is set within an environment of strong symbolic significance.

Spread across a 14 ha estate with a net built area of 80,000 sqm, the hotel was conceived as a true monument, evoking the palatial architecture of the Nisa period, to the point of appearing as though it could have emerged from that same historical era. The ambition was to create a dialogue between memory, monumentality and contemporary use.

Selected by the President of Turkmenistan as part of an international design competition, the architecture and interior design envisioned by the Cartron Group result from extensive research into the Parthian style, reinterpreted to meet the scale, functions and standards of a contemporary hotel. The project was developed in collaboration with Vinci, responsible for design and construction.
